I can't believe this is even problem...

Apparently not talking about myself and stuff is ruining my relationships now...it's just that I feel so self-indulgent when talking about myself or what I want and I get really anxious if the person I am talking to thinks that I'm really self indulgent. Aside from that, whenever I did talk about myself or what I wanted, people seemed so uninterested that I just stopped. And now I find that they want me to but hEY YOU COULD HAVE SHOWN SOME INTEREST EARLIER. It's so frustrating

That is a tough one...I was with a guy for a very long time who never cared what I did or said. I kind of got used to that, so now it's hard for me to open up. It feels weird when someone seems like they care now. 🤷🏼

It's pretty weird, alright. Of course, you got taught very early not to talk about yourself (as so many of us have been taught), which makes it tough: and some people are assholes who dont want you to talk about anything but them.

And of course a lot of people (guys mostly, I think) are taught that it's weak & 'feminine' to show too much interest in a girl, it doesnt fit the mould of the strong, silent hero type :(

But ... you've got a lot inside, worth sharing, worth knowing: if you wind up around people who still dont want to listen, they aren't your friends, just acquaintances. Friends will want to hear, to learn - just like you do, about them.
