How do males cope with losing a loved one?

My SO recently lost his grandmother and is in so much pain. I don’t know what to do. He’s pretty much numbed himself to it.

Be there to listen, to hold his hand, maybe to sit silently. There’s no magical cure. He just needs to know he’s not alone and that people care.
