Have you ever been asked to prove who you are to someone online because someone else hurt them?

Would you take offense to it if you are asked?

Why/ why not?

I think it's completely reasonable. The only people who ask for blind faith are gods and governments.

@CheshireCatalyst Now let me give you more detail and tell me if your answer remains the same:

If you're not asking anything of them and it's a general friendship, and they've known you for years. Some person comes hurt them and suddenly, you are also to be looked at with mistrust.
I'd find it offensive because whereas I get it that you want to not be duped, but that doesn't mean you go colouring everyone with the brush of distrust. Because one person hurt them.
Or, it could be asked in a different way.

@SW-User oh I literally just replied to another comment with this point of view.

You can't judge the majority based on the extreme minority, that's messed up. I can understand their concern over future interactions with new people, but I can't understand them tarring you with that brush.

@CheshireCatalyst Thank you. If it was a new interaction, I'd have understood it much more, even though not completely because it's just a regular online friendship.
