What's the best thing to do to a relative who lends you money but puts 5% interest every month? :(

I just found out that what my dad has been paying wasn't the money he borrowed but just the interest. Since it's too big he couldn't afford to pay the money he borrowed :( he is sending us, his four children, to school :'( I really pitty my dad :'( someone help me. :'(

If I were him I would pay what I owe and refuse to pay anything else. I would add up all the payments and work out if I had paid off the debt by now.

Obviously your dad wants to do the 'right' thing, but at what cost to him and all of you? Unless there is legal documentation that your dad signed whereby your dad could be sued for non-payment what is the relative gonna do? Send the goon squad? Screw that.

Then I would cut off contact completely. To me they would cease to be family.

@LaCrazyCucumber yeah. My dad is really paying them even though there was no legal documentation. :'( I wish he wouldn't :( but he's just like that. I even asked him if I could talk to them. He wont let me.. Saying we're not yet in position to. :( and that karma is a b*tch. Thank you tho. I'm getting ideas from all of you :(

@amandra Consult another trusted member of the family perhaps? They may be able to help somehow. Perhaps someone older than both of them if possible. Wish you the best of luck.
