I like to use like the little stars to show actions also like

Hi *hugs* how are you today?

Is this totally weird because some people like it and some don’t :/

I've always understood actions online to be used in asterisks. I think it's a thing from when I used to play older games and message boards where different symbols were used to identify what's going on.

I've even seen words that are being sung as being put inside ~/o to show that the person is singing.
