The secret is there isn't really such a thing as freedom. Past experiences influence your brain into making predictable decisions and a lot of people's desires can be broken down as simple psychology. And if God exists and everything is a part of his plan then your fate was already decided by him. You do have some choice in somethings but you'll never know if your making the choice or your past already wired your brain to prefer that choice.

@Planktin01 Could this depend on the definition and perception of freedom?
every human holds the freedom within.. it's one of the birth rights of each individual ... it can't be taken away from us even if they imprison us ....
It all depends on us how we treat ourselves to that freedom...
Some abuse it and some understand it well and respect It.

@Soossie So true. Sometimes it is just about the spirit being free even when the bodies are imprisoned, so to speak.
@FelixLegion My husband is a wounded warrior, and I honor his service and sacrifice made voluntarily every day. My father fought in Vietnam after being drafted.
@FelixLegion Both of my guys were Army. My maternal grandfather fought for Britain during WWII, my paternal grandfather served in the Navy during WWII and Korea.

I don't know but just did read; "Freedom is the extent to which you can do what your conscience wants to do, without being bothered by a government." So the secret could be avoiding to much contact with the government.

@SW-User Why just government though. There are so many things that bind us besides government. Having said that, what if our conscience is loose and allows us things that can have negative consequences? Is that then binding us somehow?

@SW-User I don't know, ask Montesquieu, he was the one who said it, and he's probably far more smart than me 😂😛
US, Australia, New Zealand ... to great degree Canada and Mexico ... Japan is close ... after that, countries are getting rather far from the spirit of freedom and individuality
