Do you have recurring dreams and do you notice pattern variations within them
I wonder how much of dream content is recurring, like a pallet of watercolors and the mind dips from a bit of this, a bit of that. Or is it the framework that is recurring, not the elements, probably both.
I imagine that to notice the patterns of recurrence, one would need a good deal of dream recollection after waking. That would only stand to reason. I had a recurring dream today.
I was on an old college campus. A neglected theater, with books piled up in towering heaps. I lament their neglect and so I wish take a few, but there are students who randomly enter and exit and I do not wish to be caught trespassing and stealing.
Two variations this time: there are Star Wars collectibles up on the stage and my old friend Psycho Frank is with me. I attempt to quietly exit the building, but Frank is running his yap and the students notice and chase us. There are 3 of them, yelling Harry Potter type spells at us to try and make us stop, after a few minutes of this cacophony, I confront them and demand they leave us be, but they continue to pursue. We lose them in the labyrinthine confines of a cemetery with tall grave markers and grandiose mausoleums. The cemetery is also a variation.
We flee across a bridge to a small island and attempt to hide in an old firehouse which has been converted into a museum, but are discovered and flee again, which is standard for this dream, but this time one of the curators gives me a file folder with a distinct red page sticking out and says that the administrator wants to see me. I refuse to take the folder, flee again.
I am looking around for a way to get back to my car, notice jagged rocks with strong, blasting tidal currents, as usual for this dream.
Normally the dream ends at this point, but I wrap a plastic bag around my leg and affect a limp and am able to get past security stationed to watch the bridge. I hear him speak into his walkie, "Two men, late 30's to early 40's, but one in a leg cast. Alright. Let them through."
Dream ends there.
