Is it illegal to kill a Huntsman spider in Australia?

I've seen many videos of Australians trying to capture the thing and release it outside rather than killing it.

Dunno. I think it's only illegal to kill mammals, reptiles and birds.

@walabby on an exception when kangaroos are overpopulating farms and need to be culled before they attack livestock.

@SW-User I presume you are kidding. The only thing that 'roos attack is grass and crops.... and you can cull them, but you need to apply for a license to do so...

@walabby yeah there’s permits required to do so. Where I grew up Roos were a bit of a problem getting on properties, my neighbour nearly got attacked while hanging out washing. Rabbits were more of a problem with grass and crops. We had to shoot plenty of them, and grew up eating rabbit lol.

@SW-User Buck 'roos can be dangerous. I always cringe when I see tourists getting too close and personal to male kangaroos at tourist wildlife parks.
The rabbits up here in Qld were getting very thick until two years ago when the Calisie? virus went through them. There's still a few left. Plenty of hares...

@walabby tha calisi virus took the fun out of shooting rabbits lol, when the virus unleashed in Victoria, there weren’t many to shoot we couldn’t even eat them anymore.

@SW-User True, but they did need thinning out!

@walabby yeah they did, they root and multiply, horny little critters lol. I heard pet rabbits are illegal in QLD because of something to do with the agriculture.

@SW-User Yeah, one of those stupid, archaic laws from aeons past. They made it illegal to own rabbits in Qld to keep them out but the ignorant critters walked over the border.. :D
