For me it's an honor that someone would do that on a post of mine, would just check in there and read, or forget all about it. When i delete a post it's never to do with what others do, it is rather not wanting what i put there to be there anymore.
Netiquette is something people have either forgotten or ignore. It is poor manners to hijack someone else's post, for example, changing topics, having long conversations with other commenters, posting similar pictures or videos and in general taking attention away from the original topic or poster. I usually ignore these because in the end, it brings attention to the thread by second or third hand...but it's still annoying, as if someone interrupts your conversation.
I have actually written, 'please can you take this to PM' before. Especially if they start having a general conversation that's nothing to do with the question.

@SW-User As it relates to that thread I believe that's what it stops. But you could just delete the whole thread or turn off notifications for the time being
