If a person feels a certain emotion who is standing beside you, you will feel that exact same emotion but not have a clue why you are feeling it. The feeling will appear inappropriate for the circumstance you are in. Until you figure out who's emotion you are feeling, it can be difficult to dismiss it.
You will know for sure that it doesn't belong to you, because of the situation at hand which may not warrant that emotion you are feeling.
