There are so many things I want to say to this kid.

I'm at my dad's place and have been looking at old things around the house that are bringing back memories. I was young once and thought I knew everything. I even thought I had it all figured out like the world was the plot of a highly predictable movie. I found an old photo and a few years ago I would have reacted more positively about it. Looking at it now all I see is sadness. I just see some lost kid with beer. Some kid who has no idea what is waiting for him down the line. Time traveling would be pretty cool if it were made possible. I'd crack open a beer with my past self and set the plan in motion to revise mistakes I would make in the future. Hey in 1997 you'll get clean and will discover basketball and oddly enough will become a fan. Stay clean you bonehead! Don't get married in your early 20s you will be cheated on repeatedly and will have you heart stomped on over and over again. By the way this is a repeated theme later in life so tread carefully. Don't hang out with certain people they do shady things and you will become guilty by association though you will be vindicated. Never dye your hair teal that was a mistake stick to red or blond ok trust me. Try harder and do better or else...

Such is the folly of youth.

With limited exceptions; the beauty is that we can begin again at any time.
You likely have some solid years still ahead of you. To apply the wisdom of hindsight, and live your best life.
If you havn't started already.

Make peace with the mispent past, then bury it; live your life looking forward.
Do you think he'd listen??? I know my younger self wouldn't have listened...

@HootyTheNightOwl I think with somethings he would but other things he wouldn't. I thought I knew it all back then and knew best.

You can't change the past. Move forward now!
