It is all a noble vision but in the end it is often about survival. Somebody has to put food on the table. Even the birds in the winds must devote their lives to hungry mouths.
Of course in my case my hope is to get to the point of wealth where I can stop all that and veg until I fade away. At least I only have to feed myself.
I had a little taste of this lifestyle during the shutdown, but to be honest I got a little bored. I will have to find some intellectual and creative hobbies to keep my retirement years interesting.
I'm learning it is not about the destination, but the journey. The struggle is part of the spice, and lounging in peace can make us soft and dull. Sometimes we need to stay hungry. Even as a master. The young grasshoppers always challenge us. The yin and yang.

Funny how we see ourselves as intellectually superior to ants, bees etc, yet when it comes down to it we’re doing exactly the same thing. Our educational systems are designed to funnel us into a particular way of thinking aren’t they?
We’re also social and antisocial at the same time - we like to live in groups, as long as there’s a fence between what’s mine and what’s yours…

@Oneofthestormboys "Our educational systems are designed to funnel us into a particular way of thinking aren’t they?" I don't think it's that simple, it's not monolithic. But it can feel oppressive .

There is what has my soul, and what has my body. My mind is the equilibrium that balances who I am vs what's inescapably expected of me in this crap human world. I think on the freedom that awaits when my body and mind are gone. Energy can't be destroyed, but it can be transformed from one form to another, that is what science taught me. And I know what I feel on the wind, when I look at the stars, when I swim in the ocean.

I think the craziest part to me is that we all agree to the 2nd part unwittingly, or if not unwittingly then by coercion.

@ZulXeroth we are born into a world that broke us very intentionally. the whole thing runs on the idea that people won’t resist if you make the cage feel normal and were taught this before we are old enough to question it. Once we do most people don’t see a way out so go along to survive. That is by design and yes very coercive.

Humans usually make their own hell on earth.
I would like to think there is more than two realities. How many is uncertain.
