I like doing maths in my head

Ppl like how do you do those big multiplications in your head? Take 13 times 17. 13 times 10 is 130 13 times 7 is 70 plus 21 so 91. And 91 plus 130 is 231. So 13 times 17 is 231. 🤷🏼 It entertains myself.

That's how I do it too! I can only multiply two, two-digit numbers well though because I forget the numbers I've already worked out, more practice I guess!

@JimboSaturn foiling?

@pride49 back in school they called it that in my day : Foil

This is not exactly what we do

@pride49 I just looked that up, I've never seen that before, cool! We learnt it by the carry over method

I ask my students to explain their mathematical thinking. You sound like a good student .

Not a bad skill to have. I've never been good at math and still count basic math with my fingers. 😅

@Ducky When ppl say you good at math I'm think about trunchbull on Matilda saying "so can a calculator" lol
NeuroticByNature · 41-45, F
I refuse to do mental math but I have secret admiration for people who are good at it.

It can be a pretty effective and useful distraction, tbh.

@CrazyMusicLover Good way to sharpen the mind especially as you get older lol

I open a spreadsheet.
It's awesome! It's better than thinking about how utterly s*** life really is. 😁
