a real way to cope with loneliness

i am on my own apart from my elderly parents who live an hours drive away...i live by myself, in a one bedroom flat, coped with mental issues all my adult life and never established adult relationships...i do get/ feel lonely a lot....i know the world won't come and find me.....so what can i do?

i had a great youth/childhood, but my adult life was hard.

i am an introvert, but still hope to find some relationships & friend or two...i am now in my mid 40s.

This sounds a lot like a whole lot of people and common. Pretty much most of us go through sadness, loneliness and even depression from time to time. It's the human condition so shouldn't feel too out of sorts there.

What I personally do when feeling down in the dumps is get out of the house and either ride my bicycle or go to the gym. This way I get some feel good sun on my face while absorbing vitamin D, and some socializing. Lifting weights at home can be boring and the activity level at the gym is highly motivating. On the plus side you get meet other people and perhaps get lucky. We're social creatures who when all is said and done need that contact.

Yeah man, get out. It'll do you good.
