Religion loves to argue that it doesn’t explicitly say that eve never had daughters, or that there weren’t already people walking the earth beside Adam and Eve. So then they weren’t the first humans to ever be made…? Like … @ArishMell

@soulrespite I've sometimes wondered the purpose of that myth. I don't know if historians and archaeologists have determined its likely origins but I do ask if the book was written as a sort of "Year 0" exercise.

If it's possible to extract undated history from the OT, it seems the leaders of the Ancient Hebrews were trying to cohere an assortment of tribes into a single culture with a new religion, albeit with bits of old beliefs, so presented a model that obliterated most traces of their people's past.
