Why do people want gifts on here so much?

I saw one person that said to not even try to message unless send her gift first... getting a gift on here is nice, it's a sentimental thing when it's spontaneous and genuine but why would someone force a gift... can you sell them and exchange for real money or something? If you can't I don't understand why gifts would be demanded tbh.

Different strokes for different folks... maybe she's "collecting" them here for self esteem? Or sees them the way some people want to have # of followers? Those are my guesses.

They’re just playing - gifts are worthless and everyone knows it. That’s the point.
