Yeah it's sad. One kid gave his life trying to save them. I'm sure he's having a blast in Heaven.

This is so sad. I'm at work and cried. I'm grieved over the families. I always played hockey on a neighborhood frozen lake. One day, I got too close to the dam. The ice there was thin, due to the movement of water and I fell under. I was completely submerged. Thankfully my buddies kept their wits and crawled on their bellies and reached me with a hockey stick and pulled me out. I was so fortunate and will never forget that day. This tragedy, really hurts me😔

That is truly heartbreaking...😥
I used to work on a search & rescue crew... One evening we were called out for 3 people who had been out on the lake and broke through the ice. We had divers down and even a helicopter... They pulled us out of the water around 3am... it was very dark and the water was too murky to see anything. We went back at first light...but were only able to recover their bodies...
That was over 20 years ago... I still remember that day very vividly.
Frozen lakes are no joke...

We have a lake and several ponds out here … but it rarely freezes hard enough to consider walking on it . Except 3 years ago … -5 for 6 days did the trick

@Thinkerbell it was a sports bet . I should have known better . Usually if I lose it’s something sex related which I figure is a win win scenario . Then he got nasty with the ice plunge .

@SoSophie Playing on ice one the winter is so tempting for children. They kept a close watch on us at the farm when we were little. Had a fence around the yard and wasn’t allowed to get out of the yard, had a pond a short walk down the road.

Yes. I did research and it seems like the older child tried to save the younger ones and died. :(

SoSophie · F
