This does sort of touch on my ideas of "justice" as opposed to the law.. Basically a person who has been shown to violate the rights of another and caused them harm or damage should not be provided protection under the law..
There was an old concept in some old world countries of the "outlaw". An offender was marked or branded in a visible manner (Yes. Pretty barbaric, but work with me a moment). And anyone could treat that person badly, even illegally, without fear of prosecution..
Now I wouldnt go so far.. However, I do feel that the current system certainly pays way too much attention to the rights of the criminal. Not balancing the harm done to the victim... There is something to be said for an eye for an eye, even as a deterrent..😷

because of due process. you are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. at the time of trial punishment can be dished out if there even is a conviction. War has its own rules and war crimes do often get punished.

@whowasthatmaskedman due process is too important for civiliazation. Bail is a seperate variable. A fair and speed trial is a right and the courts need to do better at that.

@Rokan Again, we agree. But it still leaves the victim with no justice. Taking a hypothetical: If a couple of kids break into my home and I catch them, I am better off cancelling them outright than calling the police and handing them over.. Of course, thats wrong of me to do it. But if I dont, they will be out on bail the next day and angry at me..Why should I be the one in fear?😷
