Catholic here and I can confirm it’s not good.

@Straylight when did the pagan beliefs kick in for you if you were raised catholic?
Straylight · 31-35, F
@HijabaDabbaDoo Well the pagan thing is Asatru, which is modern Odinism. But I take it more as a philosophy that an actual belief. They value self reliance and strong family ties.
As for what do I actually believe in… I don’t know. I don’t really feel strongly about anything. I guess I’m an agnostic. 🤷♀

@Straylight Agreed. Catholic here as well. And, yeah, they could do better. Technically it could be ANY bread ... and yet they choose the wafers. 🤦♀

@HijabaDabbaDoo Lol, half the traditions of our church are pagan in origin.

@sarabee1995 I know Christmas and Easter have pagan origins. Christmas coinciding with ancient winter solstice festivals, and things like christmas trees, easter eggs, and bunnies being from pagan symbols that represent life, rebirth and fertility

@HijabaDabbaDoo Yup. All planned to make it easier to convert the pagans. Let's just adopt their holidays and their symbols. 🙄

@HijabaDabbaDoo It’s not so much that they were pagan in origin as it was they moved certain holidays to fit the ones of the newly converted to make the transition into Christianity a bit easier.
