I don't really want a VIP
I had it once and I didn't get much more out of the site with it than I did without it.
It is your money you don't have to pay for other people's VIPs, but when you do you can't expect everyone to thank you for it .
They should probably ,but they don't and if you want to be thanked- if that's your way of getting paid back, then you have every right not to buy VIPs for people.

I wouldn’t blame you one bit. You’ve been so generous and I’ve seen the mean comments some people have made.
RSquared · 61-69, M
I think only you can decide that. I think maybe you should reflect on why you do it to begin with. Are you doing it so that people are thankful? Or do you do it for the gratification you get from helping others?
Don’t ever do things expecting something in return is my suggestion. Then you won’t be disappointed.

In the end your kindness is appreciated by people who have received VIP and it is up to you if you wish to discontinue. No hard feelings

I'm not going to lie to you. People take kindness for weakness. They assume that if you are genuinely kind, you're a soft touch. But that also makes it harder for people to understand that you actually are being genuinely kind. They tend to assume you have an angle of some sort.
That being said, it's up to you. It's your money.

You purchased VIP for many people and most publicly thanked you for it, but there were conditions attached to your kindness. If you had made those purchases UN-CONDITIONALLY, you would not have felt the need to make this post now about shutting down your gravy train.
Because you did not get what you wanted from everyone, which was a formal acknowledgment of gratitude from them and perhaps receive a bit more popularity on this website than you had otherwise received, then you decided it was a wasted effort on your part as well as a poor investment in a dubious popularity contest.
That is precisely why I repeatedly turned you down when you offered me a free VIP membership on more than one occasion. I knew intuitively that there were strings attached to your kindness and there would eventually be a price I'd have to pay which would most likely be more than what the VIP was worth at face value. Thanks for all the offers Gerry, but again, no thanks!

I think it's very generous from you to gift it 😊
Thank you for the time you paid for mine. 🙂

I do not understand why someone would go around paying for random people's VIP.
I really do not understand why someone would accept it. People do not get something for nothing.

It was a nice gesture regardless of your motivation.
ekwalizur · 41-45, M
I'm ok with you shutting down the gravy train if it means you won't make commitment that you don't live up to. If you don't want to give out VIP then don't. Just don't say you will
MyNameIsHurl · 41-45, F
Donating to a charity would be a much better way to throw away your money
moonlightlullaby · 46-50, F
@MyNameIsHurl I like this idea for you..
FlowerPetal · 22-25, F
it was kind of you to do it in the first place. :)
Gerry2478 · 36-40, M
@FlowerPetal thank you!

Well you know you don’t have to buy anyone anything eh? But we appreciate it ☺
Levenrack · 46-50, M
Can you do it anonymously? Or does that even matter to you? If you're trying to make a big show about it, than yeah I can see why some people are sour on it.
beermeplease · M
well you know darn well i appreciated every vip you gave me...i'm sure a few others did too.
Gerry2478 · 36-40, M
@beermeplease sometimes yes…but I’ve also seen you not sticking up for me much when people said bad things…
beermeplease · M
@Gerry2478 sorry....i'll do better in the future. but i have defended you before. i've told people who have doubted you to be patient and eventually you'll give them vip.
Gerry2478 · 36-40, M
@beermeplease I know. It was hit or miss at times. But not looking to argue.
It is what it is.

Learned in my youth
Anytime you do something for someone and expect something in return (even gratitude), your gonna get hurt.
