Load shedding

In South Africa we have load shedding where our electricity supplier cuts the electricity for two to four hours a day stating they can't keep up with demand and it saves them. Yet they can supply the rest of Africa at a cheaper rate than what we pay and that's no problem. Doesn't make sense to you? Don't worry, neither to us. Our provider is a government owned entity, there's no private suppliers. We have no choice... 🤷🤦

Sounds like government corruption to me
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@Cowboybob It is.
ArtieKat · M
And the SA government has got so much money to lavish on the population that they can squander it in The Hague!

Only plus side people are forced to do other things, like spend time with fam or exercise.

What about someone on electricity for health reasons? Like disabled folks who require their medic supplies using electricity?
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@Rob04 or the fridge?
Chant31 · 46-50, F
@MartinTheFirst it's off, and unless you're physically in a hospital you need back up, they don't care.

Backhanded corruption

The ANC is corrupt from head to toe. "It's our turn to eat" they've been saying since they took power in 1994.

The White people in SA should go on strike. See what happens.

Can they still provide electricity for electric cars?
Chant31 · 46-50, F
@melissa001 they don't care if you need an oxygen machine, and you're biggest concern would be a car? Luckily electric cars aren't that common in Africa. Way too expensive.
melissa001 · 51-55, F
@Chant31 no that's not my concern. I figured they would cater to the electric cars since they've become such a big thing. Idk much about Africa so I have no idea if they have them there or not. I was just asking a question.
Chant31 · 46-50, F
@melissa001 African currency can not keep up with the rest of the world. Everything is beyond expensive, including electricity itself. At this stage electric cars is only accessible to the rich, and I mean really rich. The majority works for wages as stipulated by the government that can't even cover housing. It's just ridiculous how things work here. Considering Africa has the most ground resources (sorry my first language is Afrikaans) meaning we mine coal, platinum, gold and diamonds. We should be a rich country, but our resources gets sold off and squandered. Few get rich and the rest suffers. That's Africa in a nutshell for you. 😉😁

There is a solution. Leave the country
@HoraceGreenley Because that’s a simple solution for the whole population isn’t it?
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@BeefySenpie
I have no idea
novaguy2u · 70-79, M
@HoraceGreenley That's not a practical solution for many.

Anywhere in world you go, all utilities are same. Try to take as much they can and give as little they can. Lol
lovelyguy143334 · 36-40, M
Well same problem here also we used to face before 15 years
But now everything settled
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
I think food and water is more important then electricity to Africa
spice1 · M

Looks like its stuck somewhere in the 60’s,can’t believe

@jshm2 There always seems to a solar panel salesman anxious to step in to exploit the electricity-deprived.
