When an ex still wants to always talk to you?

Ok so I have this ex that claims she’s moved on and seeing someone else, however she’s always quick to reach out to me for advise and support as well as always wanting to speak with me every night before she goes to bed. I just want to know what is the rationale behind that as she claims she wants to marry the person she’s seeing.

She’s using you and I’d really put the kibosh on it as you’ve mentioned you and your current partner are expecting a child. I certainly wouldn’t be happy if you were talking to your ex every night. 😒

@OlderSometimesWiser yeah you are right, it’s a complicated situation I’ve been dealing with for a while. It’s really been hard.
@Rogo1 Now’s the time to take care of it as your life’s about to get busier and more complicated.

Depends how long you'd been together and how strong the bond was. She might be too used to you in her life like you've become an integral part of it. There may be some unresolved issues with you she's trying to solve as well. Seems like the two of you haven't fully moved on yet

@Nunki you definitely are right, we’ve said this a couple of times and tried it but I guess we have to make more effort.

Been there. Story of my life, actually 🫤
Good luck @Rogo1

@Nunki thanks, though I was wondering how you got over your ex ?

If you have hopes of rekindling - then you should say it - and if she's not interested you need to move on which means no contact - so you can heal...

If it is not happening and you want it to you need to be strong and protect your heart....

If I were in your position, I'd just ask her why she's coming to you rather then her new guy.
Rogo1 · 36-40, M
Yes @VeronicaJane that’s the story of my life and that’s why when people say move on it’s not that easy.
@Rogo1 oh definitely. Sometimes it falls into the "Easier said, than done" category. Especially if an ex, with kids, or when both parties work in the same office professionally.

I get the 'quick to reach out to me for advise and support' in the professional sense. It's the wanting to speak with you every night before she goes to bed part that is the monkey wrench. Does not really seem that she actually has actually moved on.

If I might ask, the elephant in the room is -- Why is she your ex? That answer probably will better inform the calling every night part....

I think she’s just playing games
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
No one can't say for what reason it is, but herself. Maybe not even then, if she doesn't understand herself.

A different possibility though, would be she believes you're still friends with her. Friends do talk about personal things.

Yet this is nothing more than the speculation everyone else is giving.
Rogo1 · 36-40, M
@DeWayfarer you are totally right, I think she’s just afraid to move on completely and vice versa.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@Rogo1 ask her! 🤷🏻‍♂

It's the only way you can be certain.
Dolimyte · 41-45, M
I can't speak to her motives, but the issue seems to be that you need to set stronger boundaries.
Rogo1 · 36-40, M
@Dolimyte true everyone has said it, unfortunately we dated for a long while so it’s taking both of us a little bit longer to detach, well that’s my thinking.
OverTheHill · 61-69, M
Sounds like you both still love one another.
BigImo · 26-30, F
I forget some people don't stay friends with their exes
MrGomco · 36-40, M
Cause your ex miss you, miss talking to you or just to 👉👌
Carazaa · F
If you both still love each other then why not try again to make it work?
Rogo1 · 36-40, M
@Carazaa so many hurtful things said and I think we just have the worst timing between us that we never seem to be able to make it work.
dale74 · M
You need to quit talking to the ex she's stringing you along that means she's using you
Rogo1 · 36-40, M
@dale74 thanks I actually know that as painful as it sounds
Sounds complicated.....
JamesBugman · 56-60, T
She obviously hasn't moved on, and she wants you to save her from this other guy.. Like in all the movies, you sweep in and steal her away on the back of a horse.

Do you know how to make your voice very cold and abrupt? Do so.
Rogo1 · 36-40, M
@4meAndyou hahaha
