We need to stop romanticizing serial killers.

They have love for serial killers and want them in their beds because they don't value their own lives. Once you don't value your own life, you tend to love destructive people and will vote, socialize or conduct everyday life in accordance to how you feel inside.

But, we do need to find a way to prevent them from succeeding so often.

@samueltyler2 Well I'm not disagreeing, just that it would be hard to keep serial killers from succeeding, there's a lot more than you think out there:

A lot of them are actually truck drivers also which makes it harder.

@SatanBurger i apologize if i offend your u, but i do know something about dealing with serial killers, please do not denigrate my experience. i have actually been involved in several serial killer investigations. Every one could have been stopped months or even years, before they were finally arrested. Unfortunately, there was, and still is, no regular surveillance system, or reporting mechanisms to see intervene!

@samueltyler2
i do know something meeting about u we B's bj can

What?

i have actually been able involved in several killer investigations.

What do you do for a job?

Unfortunately, there was, and still is, no regular surveillance system, or reporting mechanisms to see intervene!

I get that, bureaucracy at its finest isn't very effective at stopping anything. I'd like to add that most enforcement are poorly trained too.

@SatanBurger i was involved in forensic medicine.

@samueltyler2 I'm not saying I disagree with you by the way. I know first hand that many stores for instance, their cameras don't actually work or they don't check them or they are set up in a way where if you needed to look for a specific time, they couldn't do that with how it was set up. So I know a lot of surveillance is in a bad state (store owners will never tell anyone this but you'd be surprised by how crappy their systems are and are just for show.)

So I agree, I'm just saying that serial killers usually are harder to catch simply because if they are on the move so much, it's hard to track.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@SatanBurger i am not talking about that surveillance. Watch Netflix's The Good Nurse. It is Hollywood, but makes the point that the protagonist should have been stopped way sooner. It really shouldn't be that difficult, it requires interest and money that develop a system.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@samueltyler2 I agree and there should be an interest, I don't know why there isn't but I suspect people are bad at really caring outside themselves anyways. I get that there's a lot of other homicides but serial killers are more dangerous because the level of their crimes are bigger.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@samueltyler2 I wholeheartedly agree though and I'll watch the Good Nurse but I have a feeling I'll be pissed off.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@SatanBurger i hope you will be. I read the book, which took some liberties with the facts as reported in the news, and on which the movie was based, again with some liberties taken.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@samueltyler2 We need to account for bias as also another reason why serial killers don't get caught. They often pick on marginalized groups and society as a whole doesn't question it. I gave a link above to an FBI person saying there's 2,000 serial killers among us even now where he talks about how nobody questions drug overdoses and the like when they could be the work of a serial killer.

He used some guy as an example that made victims swallow before choking them, I don't know what that does or whatever but apparently it's enough to make it look natural. So there's a huge bias to fight against when talking about better resources to consider, which sucks because it shouldn't be that way.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@SatanBurger the use of the term bias is probably incorrect. Denial works as a verb to describe it, as is lack of education, lack of compulsivity, curiosity, etc.
