What is it with conservatives and the taliban?

I've noticed a strange trend with conservatives lately on the far right end of the spectrum. I was watching a debate yesterday and it was about a range of topics. However, someone mentioned that the Taliban were tossing gay people off roofs and the conservatives in the group were telling that person that the Taliban only kills child molesters and they don't kill gay people but if they did, they're serial molesters. I've seen variations of far righters sticking up for the Taliban on a variety of subjects so I'm kind of wondering, WTF guys.

Two extreme right religions. That's what's going on. Even though far-right Christians are supposed to hate far-right Muslims, they recognize that they have something in common.

@LordShadowfire Yeah they both seem to be anti gay, traditionalist to the point of being psychotic and anti woman. Still, it's shocking to hear them say these things out loud. You always hear it on the internet but in person, it's kind of crazy. They really do like the Taliban which gives me an idea of how a country run with far rightists would go.
