Yeah, those "deterrents" were just about effective as the death penalty is today, right?
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
@dancingtongue no criminal that's been executed has ever committed another crime, so yes, I would say its quite effective... 🤔
dancingtongue · 80-89, M
@wildbill83 None of the subsequently found innocent ones ever lived again either.
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
@dancingtongue so we shouldn't execute criminals because 1 out of 10,000 might be innocent? 🤔

maybe we can send them to live with you for 15-20 years until their appeal hearing... 🤔
dancingtongue · 80-89, M
@wildbill83 We shouldn't executive because (1) our justice system is so screwed up the percentage of innocent is running much higher than that with the advent of DNA and other tools to prove innocence of those convicted; (2) it has never been shown to be a deterrent to other criminal activity, which is the stated purpose of it; and (3) life in prison without parole is just effective in keeping the truly guilty off the streets.
