Do I go back or not?

So Ive seen a chiropractor nearly a year for my misaligned jaw. They added back treatments too, saying my spine needed it too and th a t its connected to everything. But I know if I saw my other option, a periodontist, they simply realign your jaw, no back work that I know of.
So all year, the treatment on back has been ok, but several weeks ago they mustve hit the wrong bone because I had severe pain off and on, starting the following day. I read you really shouldn't experience lengthy or severe pain. So I messaged them with my concern, to not do back anymore, just jaw. I wanted to know ahead of time before heading in, that that was ok, without being pressured face to face that I still should do the back. (They were not readily understanding on an issue I had a year ago, and questioned me even researching the treatment). I heard a quick reply back from secretary saying it should be fine and they would tell the doctor the message. So I messaged again upon not hearing from the chiropractor, and again got a note from secretary, not addressing anything, just saying they would treat my jaw.( Not saying they would NOT do my back, like I requested). I really wanted to hear from the chiropractor that this was ok, and Im debating going back. I have a strong feeling they want to press me on back treatments, which will give me anxiety, and tell me why I need it. Would you go back after, or try another place?

Every doctor I've ever spoken to about the subject has said this, and I can say it as an EMT: Do not go to a chiropractor.

Do. not. go. to a . chiropractor.

@Graylight I have not returned. While they were slowly helping my jaw, they were doing a delicate part too that I didnt ASK for..my spine. I emailed them asking if they could first tell me they wouldnt continue my back, only do jaw, and they only said, they will treat your jaw. No mention back of my back pain, and that they will not touch it. They didnt write they would ONLY do jaw. I knew they might press it face to face. I did like the jaw treatment, but I am not a fan of pushing me into other things. Ty for your work as an EMT🌺

@Coralmist I'm not saying a person can't run into someone gifted with the art physical manipulation. But I asked you to apply make-up to a face covered by a bag, could you? We've invented X-rays, MRI's and the like; there's no reason not to avail ourselves of modern medicine within limits.

Hope you feel better, though. I'm still looking for that Shaman of the Neck.
I would go somewhere else.
My experiences with chiropractors is.... they are all so varied.
Ive found that the more often you see one the more often you need to see one. And when they r not responsive to our very reasonable requests its likely that they want you to come in so they can explain why they are going to do exactly what you don't want them to and then charge you for it.
Find someone who responds appropriately.

@nonsensiclesnail I agree, I took time to address it in a message, and last time they didnt reply at all. They just questioned why I researched the chiropractor method. But I was in dire need of treatment so I stayed. Thankfully they have done well on jaw, but it still has several months to be healed. And when i brought up an issue before they tried to change my mind and just stared at me. They did honor my wish though, but, I dont want to go through that again. (Being pressured,) And I have a feeling it will occur, since they are not addressing my message.
@Coralmist the one chiropractor I knew personally, as a teenager working in his office with his daughter, was that with him, everything was black and white. He was going to do what he was going to do. If you were a member of his church , he would placate you and play along with your requests unless he could find way to, empithieticly, explain to you why you were wrong so he could do as he wished because he made more money that way. If you were not a member of his church, he treated you like you were a fool as he was the expert and could not understand why he was being questioned or doubted. The older you were, the more treatments you got and the more he charged.
I know this is not all chiropractors.
Yet, I could see his actions in the actions of the one my family visited far too regularly while I was growing up. If I were you, I would seek out a physical therapist. There are so many fakes and snakes in the chiropractic field that often do more harm than good.
Be so careful!

@nonsensiclesnail oh wow, interesting..yeah I foresee that here, just like before, where Im being made to feel I shouldn't question their wishes for alignment...but I never went for my back..just my jaw. THEY added in back treatment. And I just have strong feeling this will be a confrontation on reasons why I need to continue, and confrontation gives me anxiety. Ty for your ideas friend🌹
