Looking for a new therapist

So with my insurance changing next year i found out my therapist doesn't take my new insurance. So i really don't have a choice but to find a new one.
Im kinda anxious about starting over with someone new. Not looking forward to this.

Can your therapist help write a referral, perhaps they know and respect someone else in the industry that is local.

@Starcrossed ill ask her at my next appointment. I feel like she's upset that im not going to pay out of pocket to stay with her. I can't afford that.

@Cigarguy101 she might offer a different rate as a non insured person to keep you.

@Starcrossed she's 100 a hour. I asked I see her twice a week. So that would be 800 a month. I don't have that kind of money especially when my insurance covers it 100%.

Thats never good, but once you meet them you will get along fine.
Tell them you are anxious about it.

@CommandLine i hope so. This is going to suck.

@Cigarguy101 All I can say is good luck. Hope it goes well for you. Just focus on your wellbeing. You are the important one that needs some help at the moment.

Your therapist should give you a qualified referral. This isn't a suggestion; it's a part of a treatment and termination plan. See what names she can give you and you can give her permission to share your file and insights previous to your first meeting in order to avoid all the initial stuff again.

It's not fun, but unfortunately it happens. Good luck and use your current therapist as a good resource.
