Online person might be dead… how would we find it out?

I kinda want to know methods to verify that a person is alive and well, dead (or as sick as it may seem a fake account faking it)

Obits and mortality databases are useful

…assuming you have a rough location, gender and age-range…

It might vary based on location?

I’m unsure of how effective it is. Advice welcome?

Why? Sometimes catfish make up bs stories of dying or cancer for extra attention or sympathy or even scamming people

@YoMomma I had a multiple fakes potentially make up this kind of "lie" to hurt and gaslight me... sadly it worked :(

It was a longgg time ago and I was a lot younger myself. But the "fear" stuck...

Actually this happened in '09 on MySpace... catfishing wasn't a word then. But I kinda wonder if the lack of a coresponding death would show it was a lie? I kinda worry the "fakes" were telling the "truth"

^^ part of me feels that would be unlikely -- but not impossible 😥

@YoMomma Thanks. I don't suppose you'd know of any search functions i might use?

Or.. do you recall MySpace? I'm wondering if faking suicides or attempted suicide was common? 😥
