I contacted the unhoused guy's brother...

So freaking sad, but he has gone downhill so quickly, and I can tell he has developed schizophrenia. His brother and sister are looking into bakers acting him :( He has been getting trespassing misdemeanors right and left, bc homelessness, frankly, has been criminalized in this country. He is on my couch right now, talking non-stop to invisible friends and motioning...something he hadn't done with me even 3 weeks ago.

You are an amazing person. There was a time about 20 years ago that my apartment was kiddingly referred to as my homeless shelter because of the amount of people I took in. Some of those people are still close friends of mine. I can only hope the same can happen for you. As for Hooty, I've been in your situation as well. Stay strong and think positive. You can and will overcome your situation.
