I can recommend a trick that always works for me. Its REM mimic with eyes closed laying down. If requested ill describe. Further
It takes 7 minutes for the average person to fall into a REM sleep cycle. Thats 420 seconds. Deep breath counting backward from 420 eyes closed trace the numbers 420 to 0. If you are still awake switch to the alphabet a to z (lower case) trace with your eyes while eyes closed. If you r still "awake reverse the pattern either trace z to a (uppercase) or 0 to 420. Deep breath the entire time maybe alternate tracibg a 1 b2 c3 etc. Just keep going until your asleep. Wont be long. Goodnight.

And the alphabet Isnt math at all. If you prefer to not sleep or to spend money on "sleep aids" thats your choice. You could just read while in bed or play sudoku. Those are equivalent to the procedure i described.
