I Have Insomnia

People keep throwing out the word insomnia left and right without 1. being properly diagnosed with and 2. knowing really what true insomnia is like. So I feel like I should share my own personal experience with insomnia.
Ever since I was young I've always had trouble sleeping. As I got older it got to the point where I'd go days without sleeping and end up getting really sick from it. The longer I've gone without sleep is 92 hours straight in which I slept maybe two hours before being up for another 39 hours.
Because I seldom sleep I am extremely paranoid and m lack of sleep causes me to hallucinate.
I don't choose to stay up all the time. If I could sleep I would.
I'm on medication for my insomnia, but even then sometimes it doesn't work.
Insomnia is not glamorous and it's not the same as staying up all night on the computer and then sleeping all day.
It's a serious problem with serious side effects.

I myself have been diagnosed. I know that it can effect you terribly. I am sorry that you yourself struggle with it. I agree though, that there are some that do seem to say they have it when they don't.

This isn't directed towards people who really have insomnia. I more so just want people who don't have insomnia to know that it's not an optional thing and it's not the same as them having trouble sleeping for just one night or an excuse to stay up late and sleep all day.

I know how you feel... hence my name, lol. The most I've gone without sleep is around 86 hours but regularly... I either don't sleep or sleep for an hour, at most two or three. It sucks because my memory and eye sight are heavily affected by it. But it's okay... sleep is the cousin of death anyways... *shrug
