Grieving process, how long will this last?

Still hurt and in shock that my beloved grandma is gone, funeral was yesterday.

She was like the Dolly Parton and Mother Teresa of our family, wherever she go she brings light to them, the funeral was full.

We will all miss her smile, her unconditional love and her support and her wit and humor she was like a second mother to us.

The closing of the casket and the burial at the gravesite took me in hard. 😭😭😭

The whole family took it hard, my poor sisters and my brother and my poor dad and Mom, having to kiss a final goodbye and throw flowers in her spot.

Rest well Grandma and rest well Dolly, until we all meet y'all again.

The passing of Dolly Parton was one sad shocker and now my beloved grandma, it seems like God or the Universe is taking all the good pure souls away from Earth.

A pure soul from Tennessee is gone and now a pure soul from Alabama is now gone.

Tbh, the initial part lasts a while until the shock wears off and acceptance sinks in...but the rest lasts a lifetime because a part of you is absolutely always going to miss them.

It will get easier, but you will find yourself remembering them on certain dates, certain memories creeping up. You'll be in a restaurant and something you smell reminds you of something they used to make.

A nice lady looks like them a little on the street or walks past and smells like the perfume they used to wear to church on Sundays going to church. I like to think of it as comforting reminders in a crazy world that there was something and someone good in our lives at some point.

Even if we lose them. Parts of them still remain to give us comfort. I have no doubt that she left you with a lifetime of love and memories. You have my deepest condolences 🙏🏾😔

@DancingStarGoddess we have plenty of memories of being with her, from birthdays and holidays and Vacations, I will surely miss her happy birthdays and her funny calls and texts and her I love you every night.

She's my dad's mother so my dad was also broken too, me and my brother was very close with her.
@Peaceandnamaste My grandma has been gone since 2006 and we still put flowers on her grave every Oct 8 for her birthday. Every time I hear a lady with a laugh like hers I smile. Best lady I ever knew🥺 give your dad an extra hug

The grieving process... Oh, it never ends. Over time, it just gets easier to manage and accept.
