It was long but worth reading.

I'm so sorry. It's unfortunate that he couldn't overcome the hatred and bigotry he'd been raised with, and express his true self. The Obergefell Decision came out in June 2015. Maybe if same-sex marriage had been legalized earlier, he might have had more hope for the future, instead of looking forward to a loveless, performative marriage that so many gay and lesbian people were forced to accept in the past.

It's clear that the friendship meant something to you, after all this time to think about him and share it with us.
Here is a valuable lesson in reading this, that there are people who value online friendships and treasure it. 🌻
