We ended up having a deep conversation about bullying during our lunch
Desmond and I went out during our lunch breaks together and he was telling me how one of his co-workers at his groundskeeping job was talking about how his 9 year-old daughter is being bullied by a few girls in her class. That it's been happening since school and they're enrolled in a summer youth enrichment program and it's still ongoing. That was real sad to hear, though it sounds like it's gonna finally be resolved. But Des got into talking about his own experience with bullying when he was younger. Me and him went to school together and while we didn't interact then, regrettably, he's told me a little bit about the bullying he faced for his bad home life. I won't go into detail about that, but he was telling me what he went through is a big reason why he started putting on muscle and stays in physical shape. That now he's always one to stand up for others who are getting bullied, even it meant putting himself at risk (which he unfortunately has the scars on his body to show for). It reminded just of just what a beautiful person he is and how unfair it is that he's had to and still has to suffer through so much. Let it never be said that he's not a good man, though. Even if he may not believe it himself, I'll never let him hear the end of it as to why I adore him so much.
