As someone who has Survived* real panic attacks, I don’t not appreciate people using the term “having a panic attack” casually. It needs to stop.

For example how not to use Panic Attack : “Omg, I’m just gonna show up, have a panic attack and leave, cause I just dont like waiting in line for longer than 5 minutes!” …( Not how panic attacks work. Learn some patience, sometimes things have lines.) …Example#2: “ I’m gonna have a panic attack! *heads turn* bc you’re so cute!”… (Heads turned bc when someone yells they’re having a panic attack, they need someone’s help! Bc they’re going to lose control for a moment, including their vision. Vision can become fuzzy while they’re in panic mode, can turn into tunnel vision or can become so hyper focused it feels too strained on their eyes they close them. Do not yell that you’re having a panic attack if you are not. We don’t need ppl to think they can ignore that statement when someone really needs help, especially when they’re alone out in public! (And with items in their hands!) … Having a Panic Attack is not cute or funny and should not be taken lightly! It should not be used to describe how fun or exciting something is making you feel! If you are having panic attacks, please seek a mental professional to help you find personal tools you can use to reduce your anxiety, remember you do not need to suffer alone.

I agree so much. I know people who have had it and it's NOT what many people think it is. People I know described it as literally thinking they were dying and felt the need to call the ambulance because physical symptoms were severe enough to mimic a life threatening condition.
