The English women footballers are not 'lionessess'. They are just some females who like kicking a ball around.

There is a lot of hysteria about the female world cup right now. I will not get into the person life choices that culminated in a gaggle of women who like to wear comfortable shoes and perhaps not pay much attention to their hair adhere to such a novelty hobby.

And I am not saying that young ladies should be prohibited from engaging in non productive, silly and traditionally masculine hobbies.

However, I do think the media should be careful about how they promote females in sports. Young ladies growing up these days have a hard enough time because there are so many negative influences about. I think it is ok to promote the female world cup, but only if they ramp up the novelty/freak show aspect of it, because ultimately, watching females playing football is akin to watching down syndrome people compete in chess competitions. Then the proceedings will be a cautionary lesson to all malleable young ladies who are watching.

There's no doubt there's been an awful lot of hype both before and during this tournament. Perhaps almost to the point of overkill and over saturation of media time and column inches.
But I have to say it's been fantastic to watch !
Yes all the favourites have been close to the business end of it but there's been some truly outstanding performances from countries that you had no idea actually played football let alone were good enough to to influence a world cup !
'Ladylike' ?.... maybe not in the traditional sense.
But then look how long it took women being 'ladylike' to even get the right to vote or be considered as worthy of anything else a man has the right to.
I'm listening to the nonsense debate on whether America should be paying it's female workers the same as men !
That argument was trashed back in the 70's in the UK ! By law !
It's a nonsense !
So. Sing the national anthem loud and proud. Wear your colours with pride. Scream at the television in hopes of influencing the game (just as us boys do) and realize you're witnessing the beginnings of female inclusion !
Girls and women of all ages; races; faiths and abilities now have the 'permission' to train; hone their skills; learn the rules and compete in the greatest game on Earth !
