I Have Anxiety

Work is stressful and now I am anxious. Any advice?

Maybe you could reward yourself.....plan something as a reward after work. Maybe have pizza delivered or stop at a park and enjoy the squirrels and other people who may be there you could talk to. Even playing a movie when you get home, just anything that will give you something good to look forward to. Maybe stop at a thrift shop. Make time for activities you enjoy and that help you relax, such as hobbies, spending time with loved ones, or practicing mindfulness. Set clear boundaries between work and personal time to prevent burnout.

Prioritize self-care, practice mindfulness and relaxation techniques, set realistic goals, and communicate your needs effectively, while also seek counseling help if needed. Ensure you're getting enough sleep, eating a balanced diet, and engaging in regular exercise.

I do this a lot. Focus on the most important tasks first and break down larger projects into smaller, more manageable steps. That way you don't feel so overwhelmed. And I don't try to do too many things at one time or all in one day. That's what's really stresses me out so I'm careful to watch that. I can be a real good procrastinator when I have a list of things to do, so I have learned to be realistic and get done what I can and the world won't blow up, until I can get to the rest. Haha

Use time-blocking techniques to schedule specific time slots for each task and ensure you have time for breaks.

Set achievable and realistic deadlines....avoid overcommitting yourself.

Don't hesitate to ask for support when you need it, whether from colleagues, supervisors, or mental health professionals.

Anxiety is caused by thoughts. Think of the thoughts you had that made you anxious. Are they true? How can you change those thoughts. Avoid coffee and any other caffeine if you can. Think positive thoughts!

I have my own ways of coping with anxiety but not for everyone. Mostly meditation and sometimes wine.

@SageWanderer Wine is always good!🤗

@Dusty101 I don’t know how to do links but did you see my panic room?

Bear in mind that it is usually not the work that causes you stress, but your coworkers or the customers.

To alleviate that stress, remember that in 100 years, they'll all be dead. Don't you feel better now?
Texassvt · 56-60, F
true. It won’t matter in a 100 years.

in general I would suggest exercise... hard physical work to clear the cobwebs and spinning thoughts... let the endorphins wash through your brain...

If you are overwhelmed by the amount of work you have, write down the jobs, categorise by important and urgent, do ones that are both first, do one at a time, finish it before starting something new, and feel proud when you've finished an item

To be honest ,if you're over 50
I don't think I could say anything you haven't heard before
Stay busy and fake it until you make it is my motto

Talking to someone who has no problems with listening!
I used to talk to a friend who is great. Or chat here with ones who care..🤗

Is the stressful situation something that’s always true, or is it only temporary?

Find out what is stressing you at work and change it, or do something else

Have a good sleep or do something that relaxes you.

take deep breaths, you got through a tough day, so realise you are stronger than you probably give yourself credit for, and turn it into a positive, highly unlikely tomorrow will be as bad, and if it is, you know you got through it before
