Few are working in their first choice.
Even less find the dream job.

Most find a place to be successful.

You can choose to be bitter or choose to be happy.
Life isn't perfect.

There's no easy answer to this. It's complicated. In terms of job fulfilment, I do like one example.

Larry Bird, argueably the best basketball player in history was a garbage man out of cpllege. He called it very fulfilling because he got to clean up the town he lived in. He also had a very poverty stricken life before joining professional basketball.

So... Fulfilment is what you make of it I suppose. Imo, the most fulfilling jobs generally pay the least per hour or per effort put in.

Age is imo no reason to press you to make a decision you don't feel comfortable with. If you feel like you want to contribute, I think applying for part time would help keep you sane. Otherwise, prep courses are also underated or continue as is.

Guilting you and criticizing you based on something you can't control, i.e. your age, is a shitty way to connect. It's your choices. There is no wrong or right here. Just a poor interaction from a friend and maybe husband isn't entirely honest about his feelings he told you previously. Maybe worth asking if he changed his mind or thought it was good to "teach you a lesson". As insulting as that sounds, sometimes good people can slip up and belittle your ideals by calling it "teaching a lesson."

My perfect happy job was when I was 18 and 19 working for the County Parks System. Pay was horrible and only seasonal work, but man I did enjoy it.

The longer you let it go the harder it will be to get a job in the field that you want that ticks all the boxes for you. What will you do once your significant other is gone if you don’t have a decent job to support yourself or your own income?

This is a place of extremely high priviledge
