Alan Watts: The Painful Truth About Being Highly Intelligent 🧠

I won't expect many people here to have an interest in listening to this, but I know some will. And, I won't expect many replies. I've seen posts from and talked with many intelligent, yet lonely people here. I suspect it's those - and those who've found it hard to "fit in" - who will find this clip interesting and informative. It's helped me understand why I have so few true friends - only a small handful, if that. People who process their world in a more inclusive way, will understand.

If i click on this, and its a typical Alan Watts video, of typical Alan Watts video length, I'll likely forget that I got there from here when I move it to the background while I occupy my hands on other tasks, like doing the dishes, laundry, bathing my son or myself, or drawing or something like that, I'll likely click on the next video.

Also, I kind of already know the reason. I'm not claiming to be any more intelligent than the next guy, or that I'm at any kind of pinnacle of success. It's just that I learned on a smaller scale why they say it's lonely at the top. It's a lesson that repeated itself at every level. ..and I know how I've been treated because I'm often accused of "always thinking," as if it's not fair to everyone else or it's something I would stop doing before a solution to a problem is achieved. I really don't understand how anyone could be alive and not thinking about something/anything.

The problem with this, is no two perspectives are alike. There are literally an infinite number of paths. EVERYONE must find out what works for themselves.

Notice the repetitiveness of this perspective BTW. There is a goal in this, just by its repetitiveness. And it has little to do with loneliness. 😞

The key to loneliness is only within yourself. Not about acceptance at all.

Ask why is a perfectionist never satisfied with their own works?
Their own perspective keeps on changing is why.

We have a warped and dishonest sense of so called equality here in North America, maybe cause we dont really cherish equal rights that much or even equal opportunity...when the real truth is we are all failing the big intelligence test...the one that judges us all fairly on the question of how we deal equitably with our true differences so all may flourish? Are we courageous enough to offer dignified self respecting employment to all who need it for instance? And how closely do we check backgrounds and consistency in the most respected and powerful among us? So no wonder were all above average enough to never worry about how we waste each other to death in every way to drop to a lowest common denominator of equal and universal apathy, impertinence and pointlessness. Bummer situation and Nietzsche would really understand. Understanding is often such a lonely place to be...it effing hurts!!!
