Do any of you live in a not nice neighborhood, aka "the hood"? How do you deal with it?

We used to. I loved my cute house and put in a $20,000 new backyard with hot tub and all. But it was not a good neighborhood at all and on the 3rd incident of gunshots VERY close to our house, we put it up for sale and I took money out of my retirement account to put a down payment on house in a safer neighborhood. This was in the middle of the pandemic.
You get what you pay for. I was willing to take the financial hit to get the hell outta there!

I grew up in the hood. I was going to at least 2 or three funerals every month. Violence was just common. I witnessed 2 murders. It followed me all the way to college. I had a friend who got out also I was so proud of him he was one of those ppl who you would never expect to see in a classroom. He got accepted to the same college. The first and last football game that I ever attended in my life, I saw a guy walk up behind him and execute him.He was sitting 2 rows below me in the bleachers. Three days later my mom died. I walked away and never looked back

I’m not even close to a city. I have been very lucky to live in the areas that I do.

I lived in the hood in Tennessee. The convenience store across the way was nicknamed "Murder Mart". Several shootings in my building, mostly domestic dispute or bad drug deals.

Nobody ever gave me a hard time though.

I do. I just keep to myself and mind my own . But it's very isolating and depressing.

It may look like it to an outsider but it's actually pretty safe.

It's a weird area of hipsters and £1m homes then housing estates and gangland warefare all together as one.
