The thing with a condo is everything inside is still your responsibility. When my Ex's condo furnace needed to be replaced, she was on the hook for it. HOA fees can be expensive and their rules prohibitive. The biggest cost difference I can think of is that the HOA should be taking care of the outside. My Ex's HOA takes care of the grounds, siding, roof, and even brings in exterminators because of wasps. She doesn't need to shovel snow or cut grass. OTOH. the windows have seen better days, and I'm not sure she could replace them because they have restrictions on any unit looking different from another.

Just my opinion, struggle through. It will be worth it 20 years from now.
