' Homesickness '

Would it be reasonable for someone , (adult) , who moved to the opposite end of their country ,(from south to north) to begin to get a desire to be anywhere at all back south where they come from? Even though no traumas and dramas have occurred in the north and their present situation ?

Just when I get homesick I remember why I left home, it helped me realize just because you were born and raised somewhere doesn’t make it home.

Where you wind up settling down is truly where home is, sure you miss a few people, but the ones that matter will find a way to keep in contact with you and you with them.

Sure the distance blows but that makes reuniting all the sweeter when you see your family and friends and or loved ones. 😎

@Sleepysheep Nice eloquent response, thanks. The stirrings to 'go home' set in after 15 years away in this instance.

@JamieYahoo Thank you for such a well thought out post.

It’s not easy being out of your element away from what you’ve known your whole life.

What helps me personally is when I go home to visit I like to present how well I’ve been doing in life and it’s my humble way of rubbing it in to those who sit around and slander me all day.

When you go home after a decade those people who made it so hard on you are envious because they stayed and ROTTED as to where you spread your wings and flew to a better future for yourself!

When you pull up in your new car and see your old friends and family and they are all impressed by your accomplishments it’s a VERY UPLIFTING FEELING! 😎

Yes definitely.

I was also under the impression that only kids experience homesickness.
I have that as an adult. But they call it Separation Anxiety. I can't be away from my home for more than 6-7 hours.

I think some of us can be drawn to certain places and people, so yes definitely reasonable to miss where you came from.
