Could monogamy be culture that was taught to Man?

I strongly feel humans aren’t designed to be attracted to one person for a whole lifetime..

I feel it’s our own choice to deny our urges and be faithful to one partner mind body and soul.

Why naturally our bodies get aroused by many.

Monogamy was largely adopted because it was advantageous for our species. It produced the most favourable outcomes. Even today it is shown that a stable family unit produces the best outcomes for society. Children from such stable family units have the best chance of leading happy and productive lives. Monogamy is not a natural impulse, it is a learned trait.

That's my considered view as a renowned scientist with fictional qualifications 🤔

@SW-User in a sense then it’s evolution
SW-User
@Heavenlywarrior Yes, we evolve more than just physically.
Heavenlywarrior · 36-40, M
@SW-User I agree. To go against the nature and animalistic desires is definitely evolution in my opinion.

You just have hoe syndrome; you don't want to be tied down to one woman.
Heavenlywarrior · 36-40, M
@Camelia to the words tied down … sometimes. As for One woman… not anymore.

I did try for several years. But I can’t shake the mentality

@Heavenlywarrior Polygamy seems like the answer, then. Lol

@Camelia possibly I’m considering

This is the biggest load of nonsense pushed by people that are still in a phase where they want to play around. As soon as you find someone you want to settle with all that mess goes out the window when you find your spouse with another person between the sheets. That feeling of rage or jealousy is also a part of the mating game. Attraction is just one aspect of it, which simply opens the door for something to happen.
Heavenlywarrior · 36-40, M
@SW-User how is it nonsense tho? When the majority out rules monogamy. ALL THROUGHOUT HISTORY.

It can literally be Tracked statistically that it’s a rare “Special” thing that men and women stay with one partner during their lifetime or don’t even cheat.
SW-User
@Heavenlywarrior There's plenty of history you can scroll back on that shows you that jealousy is always at play in the mating game. Kings and other rich could afford concubines but the fact that the rich could afford to surround themselves with beautiful women isn't a sign of nature, it is a sign that power allows you to get away with more than the average person can. The poor and the middle class always settled for one spouse. Sure cheating happened and cheating always sparked jealousy, be it a man or woman. Usually this argument is by men that want to play around but as soon as the women desire the same then it's suddenly a no no. That's again an indication that it's bullshit.
Heavenlywarrior · 36-40, M
@SW-User I see where your point is , however the average lower class did the same as the kings and upper class.. men having women on the side or pimps and hoes always existed. Or the man who has many women or the woman who has many men…

It’s becoming a norm also that people aren’t getting with each other just to procreate. They are hooking up based on just sexual expression / lust/ fantasy whatever you wanna call it hook up culture.

I feel While on one hand it’s based on pure desire there can also be order and balance in it if all parties are open and down with whatever program has been established.

I'm tempted to say i doubt monogamy was a 'man-made' ideal.
More likely a 'religious law'.

Could be why so many fail at it and so many seek freedom from it.
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@Heavenlywarrior I think religion in general is a pretty bad idea. Basically because they all say pretty much the same thing.
Believe this immediately or you're off to Hell for eternity
When the humans who say it don't have the authority to do so
Heavenlywarrior · 36-40, M
@Picklebobble2 this is a very valid point.
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@Heavenlywarrior I suppose, when you think about it, originally we were all born into tribes.
So i guess the fittest and the strongest were matched to ensure the survival of the tribe.
plenty of animals are monotonous by instinct.
they didnt need a patriarchy or religion to dictate it..
Heavenlywarrior · 36-40, M
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout interesting one mate for life eh?
Of course it was but we are complicated beings and monogamy is necessary for many.
Heavenlywarrior · 36-40, M
@MsSwan I feel u

Monogamy is more a cultural thing than a sexual thing .

Kinda like going to work, or buying a house, or sticking to the law ....they aren't in our nature either ....but we do them because that's what we need to do to further mankind.

Sex can beget offspring , offspring need care, care needs dedication and commitment 🤷
Heavenlywarrior · 36-40, M
@OogieBoogie ah… family. I see. Makes total sense.
@Heavenlywarrior it's a social necessity .
Well, unless we were better united as a society and structured childcare in a community way.

But we dont .

But generally speaking Sexuality within itself has a short shelf life.
Its like drugs ....it's chemical .
You get the initial high, it peters out and then requires work and patience and more effort to feel that good .
So.....we start the process again with a new person - it's easier.

But I do think there are those that sex is deeper. It's not just chemical ....it's also psychological . And you only get that deep with time.
Heavenlywarrior · 36-40, M
@OogieBoogie very interesting explanation. This separates us from animal nature
