Selfishness of people esp women when dating at mature age (40 and up)

this epitomises the problem "My kids have flown the coop so the time has come to think about me".

I see this and versions of it in a large portion of dating profiles from women that are allegedly single. They are not actually interested in dating and relationships because they're only thinking about themselves from a selfish 'life is supposed to be all about me' Mayor Humdinger and Donald Trump kind of way.

At least that's my interpretation.

Well that is a very good interpretation. I see it just like that too. I am miserably lonely. I have no problem finding a woman. But every one of them that I encounter has exactly the same problem. I wish one would come along and prove me wrong. I have such a wonderful life to share with the right lady. Debt free... A good income... And a great personality. But the problem with me is that... I've seen it all, I've been used and abused. I learned from all of that. I can't be tricked fooled or manipulated. What I have worked to achieve through my whole life cannot be taken from me. It's just too easy for me to see right through the heartlessness and tell her to hit the road. And no I do not enjoy doing that. Loneliness is better than drama, argument, broken heart and more tears than I already shed. Do I have more feelings and emotion than most modern day women? Yep! Apparently so.
