Would you ever vote for a person with no political experience for president, and a past of drug use?

Poll - Total Votes: 10
Yes, I would vote for someone who misbehaved when young. I believe people can change.
No, I never would vote for someone who misbehaved a lot during youth. A tiger's stripes don't change
Maybe, it would depend on if I identified with their past.
Maybe, it would depend on the individual person.

You can only vote on one answer.
This is certainly a hypothetical question, but I'm eager to hear people's leanings.
I believe I have a good grasp on politics, and would be rather good at it, because I'm diplomatic, empathetic, and I think I understand the "big picture" fairly often.

I would enjoy serving the community on the broader scale (affecting life even after I am physically gone) by serving in political office. I believe I understand the plights of the poor, the perspectives of the wealthy, and most of the folks in between. I get along with people that have religion, all types, or those that do not, city-dwellers or rural-folk, etc.

I believe this would give me a great ability to serve the entire public, and that I would excel at this type of endeavor.
But, I would "vet" very poorly. I was a junkie, and I have bad credit... So, no chance, right?
Would you ever vote for a CURRENTLY POOR man, with bad credit, and a bad past - BUT sincerely feels different about life? Could you believe it, and with your vote?

I would rather have someone like you with a background that is closer to the people who really need help. I'm not a liberal by any means but I think we need a mix of non professional politicians. I would love to see my government having one term, ordinary citizens elected. A good cross section of the real people. The way it is now, everything our government does is to line the pocket of someone that lobbies for it. The really pressing issues always get bogged down and party policy kills it. Put regular Jane and Joe in there and let them decide on things by real honest compromise after debate. I think we would have less waste and less war and discrimination. Everyone would be better represented

Thanks very much for your comment. Very well thought out and well put. I agree wholeheartedly. Is there any chance this type of thing COULD realistically be instituted, in your opinion, in the current polical landscape of the US?

In 1968 or 69, my grandmother was talking to Lyndon Johnson. She was a big democrat lady, and she told me that she told him of her grandson, me,that was draft eligible. She said he cried about sending young men to Vietnam to die. He didn't have a choice in it, we were getting in too deep to pull out.
That's when my wife and I decided to become anti Vietnam war protesters. We weren't anti-American, we were against sending guys there for no reason but to die. I had already lost three friends there. We marched in peace marches alongside veterans against the war.
After we got out of Vietnam, we all had ideas the government would change. It didnt. Politics is what runs our government, not we the people. It's the green, money, that rules us. Those with the money can buy anything practically. The people in this country have fought the wars, paid the taxes, and all we have done is make the rich richer. We could change the government but we dont. How can we when money put the two imbiciles we are to vote for in place. And how many rich people would change a system that is steadily putting more money in their pile.
It won't change until a huge majority of people start voting for the nobodies that really want to change the system and I don't see that happening. Your genation and the one under you are now fightin and dying in the middle east. Is anyone saying stop. No. Your friends may die there. Change has to come from the people. Until the fat money lords in this country are voted down, nothing will change. You will be 67 and still see government as usual.
Yeah, i'd trust someone more. They'd be more down to earth and in touch with the problems of the lower/working class. Obviously depends on the person but yes. I trust someone who swears more than someone who's wearing a mask all the time. It just means you're more of a real person.

I can just imagine him saying "Yeah, I'm gonna be president someday" and the cameraman and him laughing and not believing a word of it. Life can be amazing... Good for him.

They also used to burn it in churches ritualistically along with Frankincense, from Christians to Buddhists.
Why? You want to run?

I love the idea of the job - I despise the idea of the campaign and pre-campaign campaigning and money collection.
I honestly feel that there is 0% chance anyone would truly ever vote for me, so with that as a secure fact in my mind - no I do not want to run. But, if I learn I'm wrong I'll be pleased. But it's a silly REAL thought, nobody even knows who I am.
