Lack of Faith?

Having exhausted his limited repertoire of silly insults, it appears Mathers has been reduced to blocking his opponents instead. Obviously he can't have much faith in his puerile arguments. :)

It's the same every time. In any debate about christianity, unable to offer any evidence or even reasoned arguments, the christians almost invariably resort to childish insults. Then, when they see their attempts to annoy their opponents aren't working, they just block their opponents and retreat into their mutual appreciation society echo chamber.

Whenever I've debated members of other religions, they've always remained civil and presented reasoned arguments, even accepting their beliefs are just their beliefs. Christians could learn a lot from them.

I see and understand "faith" as being virtually the polar opposite of belief. Belief clings, faith "lets go". Often belief clings because salvation itself is identified in our mind/hearts with believing correctly - therefore any challenge to our beliefs is experienced as a challenge to our salvation.

Faith rests in grace. All is the work of Reality-as-is.

In theistic terms:-

By God's grace alone is God to be grasped. All else is false, all else is vanity." (Guru Nanak of the Sikh Faith)

"They who have known God have known also this one certainty; that it was God's grace that led them to it, and framed them in readiness for it, and prepared their heart and mind for it; and it was God alone who lifted them to that embrace." (Swami Abhayananda of the Hindu faith)

When we instead associate the causal basis of salvation with our own "choice"/"decision"/"belief" then we get what we see and read so often here and elsewhere.

I've seen that loads of times. It's funny that they even think their "almighty god" needs them to defend it. Can't be much of a god if it can't even stand up for itself.

@Sharon It can't even do a few simple home repairs. Whenever the church needs any work, they're scounging money off the general public to pay for it.

Take pride in being blocked. Consider the source.

The rift is real.

It's something that comes with being the majority. They don't need to defend themselves in their eyes, you need to defend yourself. If you travel to a nation where Islam is dominant, you'll get a lot of the same behaviors.

When a faith is in the minority, they are needing to reach out to more people to grow and thus have more reason to keep dialog. When it is in the majority it can rely on social pressure and doesn't feel a need to explain itself.
You must not have met any white supremacists. They do the same thing.
