The Japanese believe that everything natural has its own attendant spirit, or kami.

It makes sense. You worship it, protect it, it will look after you.

We need to give nature the respect and love it deserves. Only in this way can we heal ourselves and our society.

They do.It's pretty much the same as us.Natives believe all things in the natural world are connected. That is why as a kid.I understood the simplicity of their beliefs. And I also honor the code of the warrior bushito
Such a beautiful, thoughtful culture. Lovely photos. Just looking at them feels peaceful.

Shamanism? Not a bad way of going through life
@Thevy29 I think of it more as nature worship, but I get it 🙂
Shintoism is a fusion of animism and polytheism
I wholeheartedly agree.
I mean I wouldn't go so far as to say they believe this in general. 60-65% of Japanese people are atheists and don't believe in spirits.

That's a good way of looking at things. Makes you take care of them.

@BlueSkyKing sorry, but ancedotes are evidence, as flawed and weak as they are; and no, idc about backing my claim when you never backed yours
@uikakarotuevegeta What claims have I made? Read or listen on YouTube the Carl Sagan essay "The Dragon In My Garage " and you’ll understand the point I’m making.

@uikakarotuevegeta I hate to say it, but unless you're under oath in a court of law, anecdotal evidence isn't valid. That's why I never claim that anything in my life experience is evidence, because for all anybody on the internet knows, I could be lying.
