Will You Answer God?

2“Who is this who darkens counsel
By words without knowledge?
3Now [a]prepare yourself like a man or woman;
I will question you, and you shall answer Me.
4“Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth?
Tell Me, if you have understanding.

I wasn't but I know the One who was there. His name is Jesus.

5Who determined its measurements?
Surely you know!
Or who stretched the [b]line upon it?

Not me but I know the One who did?

6To what were its foundations fastened?
Or who laid its cornerstone,
7When the morning stars sang together,
And all the sons of God shouted for joy?

Not me but I know the One who fastened the foundations of the earth and laid its cornerstone.

If you want to answer these questions, make sure you give evidence to back up your answers.

Book of JOB is very humbling.
CorvusBlackthorne · 100+, M
@Iwillwait In what way? Are you humbled to realize that you worship a being who is literally willing to destroy everything you have in order to win an argument with his archnemesis?
Iwillwait · M
@CorvusBlackthorne No, I am humbled for no one is truly "Sinless," which is the point of the argument Job was initially trying to use to defend himself.
@Iwillwait
The Book of Job in a nutshell:

God: "Job is a good man. I will torture him to see if he stays good.
Job: "Why is God punishing me?"
Job's friends: "It must be your fault."
Job: "I am undeserving, but it’s not my fault."
Elihu: "God is greater than all of us."
God: "Yes, I am greater than all of you."
Job: "You are powerful, I’m sorry."
God: "Right answer. I'll stop torturing you now."

That’s it. No moral lesson in those forty chapters. No answer for suffering. No reasoning, no redeeming social values to the graphic violence. The point of the book is simply: "The Lord is powerful. He can make you suffer. Don’t ask why, Be faithful. Might makes right. God can do whatever he wants."
CorvusBlackthorne · 100+, M
@Iwillwait The fact of the matter is, the book of Job actually predates every other book in all of Jewish literature. Even Jewish scholars do not know from whence it came. And it certainly is not in keeping with any of the other books. Satan comes and goes from God's throne room like an old friend, yet you somehow do not find that odd?
Iwillwait · M
@CorvusBlackthorne Satan is not an "Old Friend," he was an Angel, a Fallen Angel.

Did seem to think it was odd that Satan had Access to GOD in that manner, however you and I have All Access to GOD as well, so I am not sure what to say other than it's not up to me to determine why & how, but to be in fellowship with you and others and worship Our Creator.

I hope you have a Blessed Day Brother.
CorvusBlackthorne · 100+, M
@Iwillwait Of course it was odd. This was a being who led a rebellion against the kingdom of heaven and was cast out and thrown into hell, yet here we see him waltzing into the throne room and implementing policy to the point where he was able to persuade God to torture one of his faithful. How does this not strike you as absolute nonsense?

It's obvious that you've never understood the account recorded in that book. where's your answers?
Iwillwait · M
@CorvusBlackthorne It is written that we will be tested.
James 1:2-8
Trials and Temptations
2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters,[a] whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. 6 But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7 That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8 Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.

2 Peter 1:6-7
New International Version
6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.

It is written that we will be tested.
To what end? Does God not know how we will respond?
Iwillwait · M
@CorvusBlackthorne The point is to bring you closer to Him.
CorvusBlackthorne · 100+, M
@Iwillwait A highly inefficient way of doing things, I would say. Putting one's creation through traumatic trials meant to leave lasting scars in order to cause them to draw closer to you?
Iwillwait · M
@CorvusBlackthorne I understand your concern and frustrations, think of it as parents disciplining the child. This would only occur out of Love, for the benefit.
CorvusBlackthorne · 100+, M
@Iwillwait I have surveyed parents all over the world, and I have never found good, loving parents who would intentionally starve their children to death or force them to die from easily prevented diseases. Nor have I found one who would intentionally give their children cancer, AIDS, or worse. Your definition of love makes me begin to think that you are a psychopath.

Obviously, you've never read Job or understood it for that matter.
CorvusBlackthorne · 100+, M
@GodSpeed63 That is a lie, sir, but at this stage, I have come to expect nothing else from you. You are incapable of speaking truth, or for that matter stating anything that is not dictated to you by some self-proclaimed expert in Bible lore.
Iwillwait · M
@CorvusBlackthorne God does not give Cancer, Aids, Starvation. Those tings are if this world, Satan's world. The world in which we live in due to Sin. It is not God's Desire or Will for us to Suffer, quite the opposite. We were given Life and Free Will, the choices we make are what we will be held accountable for.
GodSpeed63 · 70-79, M

That is a lie, sir, my God wrote the Holy Bible, it's Him that you're calling a liar and a psychopath of which you have no evidence to show for those claims. Since you can't show evidence for those claims, the best you can do is ridicule, mock, and try to discredit the God and His Word. You also try to discredit those who believe in the Truth of God. His Word is Truth, that's a fact that you'll never change.

Then prove it.

He already did. It's up to you to prove otherwise.
CorvusBlackthorne · 100+, M
@GodSpeed63 in that case, I have already proven that I am a six-foot tall extraterrestrial raven living in a Victorian manor on Mars with an anthropomorphic hyena from what your scientists call Gliese 12-B, as well as a literal troll from an uncharted planet orbiting a nebula.

It is up to you to prove otherwise.

In other words, you have nothing which explains this foolish answer of yours.
CorvusBlackthorne · 100+, M
@GodSpeed63 You must disprove what I have already proven, sir, by your own logic.
