How can you make your families and churches “woke-proof”?

Countering Woke Culture with Biblical Truth

Wokeness, and everything that stems from this philosophy, is incredibly destructive to people, to families, and to communities. But there’s a simple solution—and it starts in Genesis! For today’s blog post, enjoy this insightful letter from our Executive CEO Martyn Iles:

The person who understands and believes Genesis 1–11 is woke-proof.

Such is the enduring relevance of Genesis. It has the blueprints every generation needs.

Consider the focal points of woke ideologies—race, LGBTQ, identity, environmentalism, marriage, gender, abortion, truth, power—time and time again, the answers are in Genesis.

This is because “woke” culture is an attack on the way God ordered and designed creation.

To be “woke” simply means to be awake. Awake to what? Awake to all the kinds of oppression in society that used to go unnoticed because they are hidden in the “system” we’re living in.

But what is the “system” which is so oppressive? Well, woke ideologies say that things like marriage are part of this system of oppression, or the gender binary, “heteronormativity,” the ethnicities of people, and so on.

They actually think that we can destroy these realities and be less oppressed as a result!

But these realities are not “systemic oppressions.” These realities are just, well, reality! They are God’s creation design and order.

Thus, woke culture is an attack on creation.

Hence, the answers are in Genesis, because Genesis 1–11 is about God’s design and order in creation. It specifically addresses the things that wokeness attacks.

Right now, there is a wave of compromise sweeping the Western world, including America, on all these woke issues. A generation is being taken out of the church, believing Christianity is bigoted, hateful, and oppressive because it believes in God’s creation order and design.

This woke critique is causing pastors to compromise and the world around us to reject the Christian faith.

But Genesis shows us the connection between how things are made and how we must therefore live. It answers this woke critique by describing realities—like males and females, the fact of only one “race,” and so forth—and then showing that these realities hold the key to understanding our world and living wisely.

Genesis shows that the very things wokeness attacks are for our good!

For the past five years, I have been teaching Australian young people about the connection between Genesis and the woke ideas they are being confronted with. This teaching always had a major impact on them and fortified them in their faith.

Seventy of these young folks have just visited the Ark Encounter to participate in our brand-new, 10-day Catalyst program. They came all the way from Australia just to be there.

Young people are hungry for answers. We’d like to build more housing so that we can run these programs year-round—the demand from around the world is huge.

But Catalyst is only the beginning.

The person who understands and believes Genesis 1–11 is woke-proof.

People who believe in Genesis 1-11 believe in a flat earth.
Still waiting for an an answer from your last post.

The flat Earth has indeed been debunked (by Eratosthenes, in about 200 BC), but not for the fallacious reasoning of your silly meme.
A flat Earther would say the sun is on the underneath side of the disk at night.

@Thinkerbell
No it rotates witiin the firmament
Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
@DocSavage

And sets below the horizon. If the sun were located as shown in your geometrically incorrect meme, the upper side of entire disk would be illuminated. Try it with a lamp and a tabletop, if you don't believe me.

@Thinkerbell
I believe you. One of the main reasons it doesn’t work.
Flat earthers tend to ignore basic physics.

I rather doubt that the ancients who thought the Earth was a flat disk and paid any attention to the motions of the sun, moon, planets and stars thought the firmament was a hemisphere rather than a sphere. Where did they think the sun and other celestial bodies went when they couldn't see them?
@Thinkerbell The ancient astrologers of many cultures did painstaking observations for different reasons. The firmament was an Old Testament statement.

You flat earthers, Doc, always want to blame others for not discovering earlier that the earth is round like the Word of God says. Now can you say the earth is round and not flat as you once believed?

"The ancient astrologers of many cultures did painstaking observations for different reasons. The firmament was an Old Testament statement."

Yes, of course they did.
And 'firmament' came from Latin, which came from Greek, which came from an original Old Testament Hebrew word meaning 'expanse' (of the sky, in this case).

The question remains, did they think the expanse of the sky was a hemisphere or a sphere?
And if the former, where did they think celestial bodies went when certain of these bodies disappeared below the horizon in the West, only to reappear the next evening in the East?

@DocSavage Your flat earth model is ridiculous. The Earth is neither flat nor a sphere. The earth seen by astronauts in space or from the moon is an apparition just as the moon is when seen by us.

@sree251
Let’s get something straight. I am not a flat earther never said I was, nor do I encourage the belief.
That discussion goes back to Godspeed63’s last post. When he claimed the bible is god’s truth and never wrong. He ran away from the question (as usual) Genesis describes the firmament, and there several quotes that refer to the earth as unmoving and fixed of four pillars.
Godspeed63 refused to admit the quotes came from the bible, even after I gave him chapter and verse. Simply pulling his chain.
sree251 · 41-45, M
@DocSavage I think the ground we stand on is not moving to produce the 24-hour day in accordance with the idea of the earth rotating on its own axis. In a sense, it is fixed of four pillars.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@sree251 Of course you would turn out to be a flat earther.
OriginalDumbMan · 36-40
@LordShadowfire It all an illusion. Light also bends in presence of black hole. We cannot see with our eye the true nature of existence. Maybe the earth is flat. 😁
GodSpeed63 · 70-79, M
@DocSavage
Where did you get that idea ?

From you, Doc.

I am not a flat earther never said I was, nor do I encourage the belief.

Neither does the Word of God nor do I, Doc. So what's your problem?
sree251 · 41-45, M
@DocSavage Using science to explain a biblical concept is a fool's enterprise. The paradigm of physics is simplistic.

1 Chronicles 16:30: 'Tremble before Him, all the earth! The world is firmly established; it cannot be moved.' This speaks to the idea that the world is planted in a foundation.

1 Samuel 2:8: 'He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; he seats them with princes and has them inherit a throne of honor. “For the foundations of the earth are the LORD’s; on them he has set the world.' Again, we see that God has described the earth, not as a spinning ball hurtling through space, but as having a firm foundation.

Isaiah 40:22: 'He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in.' Please note the use of the word מעגל (circle), rather than כדור (sphere). This is a description of a flat disc.

Jon 37:18: 'Can you join Him in spreading out the skies, hard as a mirror of cast bronze?' This is clearly a description of the vaulted dome over the flat earth.

Notice that the Word of God says, "The Circle of the Earth" which states that the earth is round and not flat as you guys supposed. It's clear that you have no understanding of Scripture.

Spacetime bends in the presence of a Black Hole... light doesn't
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@newjaninev2 I thought it was both.
