It would be so amazing to learn that humans actually have psychic powers...so why has no one ever proven that they have the powers they claim?

I mean, if i was psychic and i wanted people to know that not only i but many other people really did have this kind of power to help people then i would be only too happy to prove it.
There are many large cash prizes for people who could prove psychic ability but so far no one has collected.
Many have tried but none have passed.

Hot take: seems to me that if psychic powers existed then at least one person would have proved it by now.
Instead we get people with their "powers" delivering the vital message that a father or father-figure who died young (maybe 40-75) of something to do with his head, chest or stomach and whose name contains an R, N or E wants to say that you have a CD player with dust on it and a chair with a wonky leg and that everything is going to be ok.🙄

Good question. I suppose one possible reason is that people with genuine abilities are afraid they'll be taken advantage of, but I don't know. I have a friend who has demonstrated some mild telekinetic ability, but he refuses to let me share video, because he's afraid of the military trying to weaponize him.
@LordShadowfire

I think it's guaranteed that many people with true power would feel that way.
But then you watch what people are willing to do on reality tv for a little bit of fame or money and i'm utterly convinced that at least one person with an ability would be happy to demonstrate it for personal gain if nothing else.

@Pikachu I don't know. Assuming there are real psychics out there, my only explanation is that they have such a different thought process that they don't have what I would consider the normal human desire to use their talent to acquire currency.
@LordShadowfire

But why not just win the million and give it to breast cancer research or build some wells in Africa something?

The people who claim to have powers seem generally to be people like everyone else. So even if NO ONE would want to use them for personal gain ( staggeringly unlikely) then you'd think at least one of them might want to help people with it.

@Pikachu I don't know. Just spitballin'. You raise some good questions.
@LordShadowfire

lol no i know. I'm not expecting you to give me the definitive answer here. Just spitting on your spitballs😜
Well that's a gross image lol

@Pikachu Here's one. Maybe genuine psychics are so sick of humans and human nature that they don't want to help. They just want to be left alone. We are kind of a horrible species.
@LordShadowfire

I think it's unrealistic to think of psychics as a monolithic group all possessed of the same motivation and ethics.

@Pikachu Good point. They are all unique, just like everyone else. And who knows? Maybe some of them have offered to help people with their powers. Some of these so-called psychic detectives might be actual psychic detectives.
@LordShadowfire

lol then you'd think they could come up with something better than "the body will be found near water"

@Pikachu True... true.
